To Whom it May Concern,
As VP of Engineering at Platform Solutions Inc (PSI). Kayvan Sylvan worked for me in a variety of capacities. He was the primary engineer in charge of software configuration management and was responsible for designing and implementing the final build process for all of the software the comprised PSI's plug compatible mainframe implementation. Kayvan was also one of the key Linux experts in the company and in that capacity he consulted on a variety of projects. PSI was a start up that had aggressive schedules and everybody was expected to wear many hats. Kayvan did a good job of juggling many responsibilities. In a later phase of the company Kayvan pursued an interest in Xen virtual machine technology. His work in that area developed into PSI offering a virtualization product, VMnext, and for that product Kayvan was the lead architect and engineer. Kavan showed initiative, leadership and technical expertise in the design and development of the VMnext product. Ultimately PSI was acquired by IBM and the VMnext product and technology were a key asset in the portfolio of the company. During negotiations Kayvan gave numerous presentations of the product and technology that were a significant benefit to the company. He has good communication skills that were important during the acquisition process.
At IBM I worked with Kayvan as a colleague and he again used his skills to contribute in a variety of areas. He helped set up all of the lab infrastructure as well as working on his engineering assignments.
He again operated as a Linux expert in the group helping others where ever it was needed. Kayvan showed his strengths as a team player in these areas.
I recommend Kayvan as an employee and would gladly work with him again in the future.
Sincerely,
John J. Lee
