The Story of James Tiberius - JT Comes Home

JT lived in Tracy, California - just over an hour north of our home in San Jose. On our way to pick up JT, our car breaks down in the middle of the highway! It just made a funny noise, the engine stopped, we managed to coast to the side of the road, and saw white billowing smoke come out of the hood.

Thank goodness we were able to be saved by Mr. Towtruck... but it's all hammed-up sad faces here because there is NO PUPPY yet!
Inside the tow truck is at least a bit more interesting and things are starting to move again, at least we weren't still stuck on the side of a busy highway! At this point, we weren't sure what town we were in at this point and had to ask!
Here's Kathy inside the cabin of the tow truck where we can also see our unfaithful car being dragged along behind us (to be ditched at a nearby mechanic shop). With that taken care of we STILL need a car to go get JT and manage our way home.
We got a rental car - with only 20 minutes to spare before closing time! No one wanted their picture taken (that's not fun, mom!) but I think this is the funniest one of the lot - the relief is palatable at this point!.
We finally make it to the Johnson home, only a little over an hour late! Here we see Sugar resting up on top of the couch and saying hello to Kayvan.
Finally, here is JT! He's playing with his littermates doing what he seems to always be doing - looking to knock them over and straddle them in a dominant position. He spent most of his play time going from one littermate to the next and knocking them over and was very one-tracked about doing this!
Here is JT reaching up to say hello to his new "big sister", Katherine!

Welcome home, JT!! Here is JT getting his first view of his new home!

The rest of our trip home was blessedly uneventful. JT rode home in my lap snuggled in a thick towel. He cried/whimpered for the first 5 minutes - and stopped as soon as we pulled into a fast food parking lot to grab some food. We figured out he didn't like car-motion and that it probably made him dizzy as well. I also remembered we had a chicken flavored Gumabone and a squeeky fuzzy Booda elephant for him and he promptly went to work chewing on the Gumabone and settled down nicely.

After our quick food break in the parking lot (and passing him back and forth for kisses between all four of us) we started up the car again and JT started to whine again. So I snuggled him deeper into the towel and he burrowed in deeply and fell asleep. He was so sweet and so good all the way home!
Here JT plays with his new Booda elephant - promptly renamed by Kathy and Robin as "yellow-phant". I'm sure you can guess why! (A little accident when he first got home.) JT loves chewing on his yellow-phant and later the same night would fall asleep in his crate all curled up with it under his chin.
Here is our first lesson in what JT will do with any object left laying on the floor (like my camera case and shoulder strap)! JT is going to help motivate us keep our house VERY neat and tidy!
