Days 1 & 2 Days 3 & 4 Days 5 & 6 Finishing Diary

Day 1 |
|
| I have been waiting three years to take Rik Pierce's Storybook Cottage (aka "Three Bears Cottage") class! It has finally returned to Shellie's Miniature Mania! Here is the proto-type that Rik has built. | |
| As with many of Rik's classes, we start with some basic 1/2" gatorboard for the main walls. | |
| And many pieces of resin cast windows, doors and fireplace mantel. They have been prepared for painting with a spray can of gray primer. | |
| And of course, no Rik Pierce class would not be complete without a handmade "Sawz-all" tool and a mountain of raw lumber to distressingly distress! The tool is made by Rik by gluing on wooden handle over the "sawz-all" blade. | |
| Interested in how to paint plain cast resin to look like brick? Check out the short brick painting
tutorial. 9.6 hours of class, one hour of homework (distressing more wood). |

|
Day 2 |
|
| After hours and hours of distressing small shapes of wood, we glue them onto the gatorfoam. | |
| We drill tiny holes to eventually create the look of wooden pegs holding together the timber. | |
| The roof trusses are glued together and kept in a perfect angle in this pre-built wooden form. There is a piece of wax paper between the board and the trusses to prevent gluing the truss *to* the form. |
