Spent most of the morning just getting the antiqued tile flooring completed. The process was in brief taking a the pre-made board (which was a color photocopy of tilework set on a firm backing) and sprying it with varish 3 or 4 times to give it a glossy look and build up some waterproofness on the surface. Then we took our exacto knives and scored out the "grout lines" area by scoring each diagonal several times and carefully peeling up the skinny strip. Then we "grouted" the grooves! After which, dirty water to give the grout lines some age, followed by a quick spray of varnish to seal the finished work. |

Windows are done! These started as unfinished store-bought windows. The interior mullens were knocked out and the leaded windows affect was added. For more details on how this technique is done with golf tape, check out the photo diary from the Toy Shoppe. |

Our delightful resin (?) cast chimney pot. I painted the stripes Dark Charcoal, Red Iron Oxide and Toffee Brown.
Then dipped it in Dark Walnut stain and let dry overnight. Then a few quick layers of Deft to seal the stain. Also completed today, but not pictured, was the rusting of our support beam, and the Deflt tile strips (in the same techniques as the tiled floor). Today was 9.5 hours! Whew! |
